Última A comparison of two techniques to discriminate continental origin of Atlantic salmon (Salmo salar L.) off West Greenland ArchiMer Reddin, David; De Pontual, Helene; Prouzet, Patrick. Two techniques of stock discrimination both utilizing scales, i. e. termed as classical technique and shape analysis, are compared for discriminating between North American and European Atlantic salmon (Salmo salar L.) caught off West Greenland. Three scales from each of 60 salmon were analyzed: 30 from North American and 30 from European-origin salmon collected from home rivers in 1982. The best results indicated misclassification and error rates of 0% for shape analysis and 5.0% and ± 1.7%, respectively, for the classical technique. A nested ANOVA indicated that variation was greater between scales of salmon of North American and European origin than from several scales from the same salmon. Several gears and fleet traditionally exploit it. The studies concerning this fish and particularly those of its age and growth are rare and haven’t used the adequate method, which founded on hard pieces like scale and vertebra. The objective of the present work is to contribute to the knowledge of the growth parameters of the red Pandora using the scales method not yet used in the studied area. L’étude de la croissance de Pagrus caeruleostictus des côtes de Nouakchott (Mauritanie) a été réalisée par scalimétrie. L’analyse des variations mensuelles de l’allongement marginal (A.M.) a permis de montrer que la période d’apparition des anneaux d’arrêt de croissance est située en février. Par rétro-calcul, nous avons déterminé la longueur à la fourche (LF) à l’apparition de chaque anneau d’arrêt de croissance en utilisant la relation liant la longueur du poisson au rayon de l’écaille. L’application du modèle de Von Bertalanffy sur ces longueurs, a permis d’obtenir les paramètres de la croissance moyenne en longueur et en masse de l’espèce pour les 2 sexes pris séparément.
